family reunification Barcelona

Want to Bring Your Family to Barcelona?

If you’re already living legally in Barcelona and want to bring your spouse, children, or dependent parents, Spain offers a legal path through family reunification (reagrupación familiar).

But the process can be complex — especially when gathering documents across countries. Here’s what every expat needs to know about family reunification in Barcelona and how we can guide you every step of the way.

👥 Who Can You Bring to Spain Under Family Reunification?

You may be eligible to bring:

  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Spouse or registered partner

  • 👶 Children under 18, or over 18 if disabled

  • 👴👵 Dependent parents (usually 65+, must prove dependence)

  • 👧👦 Children of your spouse (stepchildren)

You must be a legal resident in Spain for at least 1 year and have already renewed your residence permit to at least year 2 before applying.

📋 Requirements for Family Reunification in Barcelona

To apply, you must show:

  • Stable income (typically 150% IPREM for one family member, plus 50% per additional)

  • Housing adequacy certificate from Barcelona city hall (Informe de Vivienda Adecuada)

  • ✅ Proof of family relationship (birth/marriage certificates, legal custody, etc.)

  • ✅ Criminal background checks for adult relatives

  • ✅ Health insurance (if applicable)

  • ✅ Valid passports for all family members

We assist with all translation, apostille, and legalization of documents.
