T Visa for Victims of Human Trafficking in the U.S.

🚨 What is the T Visa?

The T Visa is a humanitarian immigration option for individuals who are victims of human trafficking, whether for forced labor or sex trafficking. It allows victims to remain in the U.S., obtain a work permit, and eventually apply for a green card.

👤 Who Qualifies for a T Visa?

You may be eligible if:

  • You were a victim of human trafficking (labor or sex).

  • You are physically present in the U.S. on account of that trafficking.

  • You have complied with law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution (unless you’re under 18 or unable due to trauma).

  • You would suffer extreme hardship if removed from the U.S.

📋 Required Evidence

  • Form I-914 (Application for T Nonimmigrant Status)

  • Personal declaration describing the trafficking and its effects

  • Proof of cooperation with law enforcement (if applicable)

  • Medical or psychological evaluations

  • Evidence of hardship or danger if deported

⏳ How Long Does It Take?

  • T Visas are capped at 5,000 per year, not including family members.

  • Once approved, you receive work authorization.

  • After 3 years in T status, or once the trafficking investigation is complete, you may apply for a green card.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Can My Family Come Too?

Yes — the following family members may qualify for derivative T Visas:

  • Spouse

  • Children

  • Parents (if the applicant is under 21)

  • Unmarried siblings under 18 (for applicants under 21)
