The P-2 visa is designed for individual artists or entertainers—or groups—participating in a reciprocal exchange program between a U.S. organization and one abroad. This visa allows temporary entry to perform, teach, or share artistic talents in the U.S.


✅ Who Is Eligible?

  • Artists or entertainers involved in government-recognized or labor union-approved reciprocal exchange programs.

  • The program must have an agreement between a U.S. and a foreign organization.

  • Participants must possess comparable skills to U.S. performers in the exchange.


📄 Application Process

  1. A U.S. employer or sponsoring organization must file Form I-129 with USCIS.

  2. Submit:

    • Evidence of the reciprocal exchange agreement.

    • A written consultation from an appropriate labor union.

    • Proof of artist’s qualifications and role in the exchange.


⏳ Duration of Stay

  • Granted for the time necessary to complete the event or performance, not to exceed 1 year.

  • Extensions possible in increments of up to 1 year.
